The American Cancer Society Auxiliary is a community-based voluntary organization dedicated to providing volunteer service and support to the American Cancer Society through fundraising, public education, and community service. The Auxiliary is committed to hosting the Hope Fashion Show and other means of fundraisers annually in order to raise awareness of and financially support the American Cancer Society.
We are composed of members interested in providing service and support for the many activities of the American Cancer Society. Our primary project each year is our annual Hope Fashion Show with all funds going to cancer research, education, and programs through the American Cancer Society.
In 1991, we adopted the Hope Fashion Show as its annual fundraiser. The first show was held at the Ritz-Carlton, Buckhead, attended by 300 persons and raised $13,000. In 1996, after losing one of our most treasured members to breast cancer, we began cancer survivors with funds going towards the American Cancer Society’s breast cancer programs and research.
The 24th Annual Hope Fashion Show raised $225,000. The finale of the show consisted of very courageous and inspirational cancer survivors who modeled Belk’s fashions. The Hope Fashion Show has come full circle, from a wonderful fundraiser begun by a cancer survivor to an inspirational event honoring all cancer survivors today! In the history of the Auxiliary’s main fundraiser more than $1.3 million has been raised for the American Cancer Society.
